MY BLOGGING STORY
I started my first blog in october 2018 and the ride wasn't an easy one at all. I knew that there was gold in it but mining the gold was what became difficult. I think of bloggers like Linda Ikeji and I wonder if I can do it too.
I spent most of my nights learning and doing. I go online to watch videos relating to my niche and then try to do what I watched. After doing all of these for months, nothing happened and I gave up. Guess what. Nothing happened still!
Blogging is very nice.
It is indeed very nice but it takes time and effort. Imagine the time it takes you to write over 50 blog articles. You also have to put in your effort, your tenacity and dedication. If you are looking for a platform to make quick money, then blogging was never for you.
Quantity matters.
I learnt early in my blogging career that a good blog post should be up to 500 words. For an amateur blogger like me, it wasn't in any way easy for me. That was when I realized it was the hardest online job to do. So if you must blog, avoid short articles.
You have to spend money.
One thing I also learnt very early was that to go far in blogging, you need money. First, you need data subscription on your mobile and you also need to buy a domain name. You may also need to hire writers, pay for facebook and instagram Ads and also for your SEOs. The beautiful thing is that you will get your money back sooner or later.
Creating of contents.
Creating of contents for your blog isn't a child's play at all. I can boldly say that of all spheres in blogging, creation of contents is the hardest. I recommend hiring a writer if you are not good at it.
Blogging is depressing
Blogging is frustrating especially when no one reads your posts. It is more frustrating to find out google doesn't appreciate your blog. I strongly recommend taking a course in SEO or get someone good at it if you are financially bouyant for that. The dream of every blogger is to see that his writings are appreciated- this is where the money is.
HTML?
Having a basic knowledge of HTML will do you much good. I am not asking you to learn it because it is compulsory. Infact you can use blogger and wordpress without any knowledge of HTML. But these skills are necessary just in case you find yourself in problems someday. You can get to learn them via youtube and playstore. Learning the basics will do.
Blogging is a very lucrative online business. The only problem with it is getting started. You have to continue even if it is hard.
