The secretes of cold emailing

The need to grow your business gave rise to this cold emailing blog post. In this post, I'm going to show you how to win more clients, get new jobs and make new connections using emails.

Cold emailing is simply sending an email to someone you  have never met before, pouring out what you stand for and how you can help. Simple!

It is 'cold' because we don't know these persons we are sending the email(s) to (although not all the time).

I have given you some tips below.

1. The slippery slide.
The reason people read your first statement is to make them read the second one. Once your first statement does not make sense, your email as a whole will be messed up.

The first line (Not statement) should contain your name and where you work. For instance,

'Hello Mr. Scott Itepu,
This is Cajetan Iyenagbe from CRUZZ...'

Start your email by talking about something you know your peospect might be interested in. Try to fit into their world. If you can do this one right, you have a high chance of getting a 'yes'.

For instance,

'I have followed all your series on Talkative Africa and they make so much sense. You are really impacting lives.'

If you were Scott, would you not be happy hearing this? This will make Mr. Scott want to read the next line.

2. Keep your recepient salivating.
The body is the key that unlocks the door to your message. Here, consider your prospect's point of view. Write something here to hint on the problem you think they might have.

This will make your prospect take you seriously.

If you don't have a problem to solve, you won't have a client to buy from you.

3. Sell yourself and your brand.
Now that you have hinted them on something that seems to be a problem to them, sell yourself.

Tell them what you have to offer. It may be better content creation or better web designs.

Remember it must be what you can do so well.

Use story telling to tell them how you can relieve them of their problems. Don't forget to state you want to help as well as learn. (Be humble to a point. People will love you for this).

Take your time not to talk about the features but the benefits.

Let's say you are trying to make Mr. Scott hire you as a copy writer, don't tell him how many certificates you have from copywriting. Rather, tell him how he can make hundreds of thousands (in dollars) when you are brought into his industry.

4. But you are free
Cold emailing is like asking a girl out. You don't want her to feel you are despirate to have her.

What you need to do is not to make your reader feel you are despirate. They will look down on you. Give them your idea and MOVE.

'Mr Scott, If I get hired, I'll bring in my skills to your industry and try my best possible to make it grow 'but you are free' to make your decision.'

'but you are free' is a very powerful Marketing word. Use it!

5. Polish your conclusion.
It is not enough to do all of this but have a poor ending. The end matters a lot.

First ask for a simple thing your prospect can do for you. It may be sending you a mail or calling your phone number.

Don't only offer to help, encourage them to reach out.

Make sure you polish your signature to make you look trust worthy. Very important!

'You can reach me on (drop your details).'

COLD EMAILING WRITING PLANS.
To make you so confident in writing your cold emails, I'm going to share with you some writing strategies with codes, mnemonics or names.

1. Heaven, Hell and the Gulf.
Heaven stands for success.
Hell stands for hell.😁
The Golf stands for the process.

Your recipient is in hell. Tell the person all the bad things that you know are happening in his or her company/organization.

Where you want to take the person to is the heaven. Tell the recipient all the good that will happen if you are given the task.

The process you will involve yourself in is the gulf. Tell the recipient what you will do to bring the heaven into fruition.

2. Star - Chain - Hook
Let's say you have a big idea for Mr. Scott's company and you know when your idea is bought, the company will grow. That idea of yours is the star.

The next thing you should do is the hook. Here, state a series of;
• Facts backing your ideas
• Sources from the research you conducted
• Reasons why it will work
• Benefits the organization/ company will get.

Crown it all with the hook. This refers to the Call to action, CTA. You should have a compelling CTA.

3. ACCA
A = Awareness
Make your reader aware of the situation he is in. Present the problem and make it look BIG.

C = Conviction
Create in your reader a burning desire by explaining how a solution can fix the BIG problem.

C = Comprehension
Now, that you have given a solution, describe how your solution will help the company grow. Exaggerate the result but don't sound like a mediocre.

A = Action
Use a proper Call to action, CTA.
