FIVE THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU START A BLOG

Creating contents on a blog has been a very lucrative online business for some years now. A lot of persons have recorded huge amount of success financially from blogging while others are yet to navigate their way through.

Reasons may be because of poor foundation. The foundation goes a long way to sustaining the structure of a building and so does the foundation of blogging.

Here, I have highlighted what and what you need to do and know before you open your blog. Don't only be a reader. Put what you have read into practice.

1. DETERMINE THE GOALS OF THE BLOG
In anything you want to achieve in life, start it with the end goal in mind. It will guide you and give you enough motivation to continue. If you want to make sales, state it. If you want to pass knowledge, state it.

Make your goal as lucid as possible. This will guide the way you make your blog post. There is a strategy for everything.

If you don't do this, you will end up blogging for the sake of it. You might end up wasting your time on the platform. If you want to reach out to millions of people, please state it. Set your goals high.

2. RESEARCH YOUR COMPETITION
There is this saying that you are only in competition with yourself. I know but never underestimate the power of researching your competition.

This will help you learn more and also make you understand the ins and outs of your niche.

If you find a competitor that is doing extremely well, you can reverse engineer what they are doing. I am not asking you to copy and paste their works. All I'm saying is that you should do something similar to what they are doing and then look for ways to make it better.

3. CHOOSE A BLOGGING PLATFORM OR HOSTING
There are over 40 blogging platforms to choose from. But there are two major blogging platforms that you can use. Blogger and WordPress.

If your intention is to make sales from your blog, please make use of wordpress.

While blogger is owned by Google, WordPress was designed by Matt Mullingwerg.

4. DECIDE HOW OFTEN YOU WILL BE POSTING
Some bloggers post every day. Some post every week while some post once in a month.

Decide your posting schedule based on your availability. Don't choose to post daily when you know you are always very busy.

5. DECIDE HOW TO PROMOTE YOUR BLOG
Do you want to use paid Advertising or you want to get it organically. Choose the one you want and work for it.

I prefer organic traffic because it will bring loyal customers your way.

You can also promote your blog via social media such as Instagram, twitter and Facebook.

Did this help you, let me know in the comment session.
