HOW TO WRITE A GREAT BLOG POST

I have always said repeatedly that content is key. Your blog post will not pass much message if you don't apply efforts to produce good and quality content. Content is the bait to attract your audience.

Alert! There is nothing like 'contents.'
We only have content when we are referring to stuffs that we put online like graphics, write-ups and videos.

As at 2016, there were about 130 trillion pages on the internet. It will shock you to know that over 90% of this number provided little or no value to the readers.

At first, you put out contents and no one reads because of how awful it is. But as you do it regularly, you tend to become better. The more you write, the better you become.

However, there are some rules you have to take note of. Great bloggers applied these rules and they haven't changed. These are the rules that I apply personally.

1. RESEARCH YOUR TOPIC BEFORE WRITING.
The goal is to make your content rank on Google search engine. Please if you don't have any intention to make your content rank No 1, stop reading this blogpost because it will be a complete waste of time.

Make a thorough and proper research on what you want to write about. Google it up, ask mentors, share the idea with your friends, watch a video on YouTube. Research!

A proper research will boost your confidence when writing and will ensure it is not ambiguous and vague.

Conduct a proper search on keywords and choose which and which to use. Analyze keywords contents properly before writing your content. Keywords are  ice and sugar to an effective blog content strategy. Visit Google keyword Adword planner or Uber suggest (a tool developed by Neil Patel) to get quality keywords with high volumes and low difficulties.

Input the researched keywords into titles, headers, body and images. The idea of using keywords is very good but don't let that stop you from writing great content.

2. DECIDE ON THE BEST WAYS TO PROVIDE VALUE TO YOUR AUDIENCE
The reason anyone would visit any of your blog post is to get value. Why not make it inspiring? You have to consistently provide value to your audience or else they will leave you even without knowing.

To provide value, you may choose to ask them in a post what they are interested in reading from you and then write on some of the answers you get in the next blog posts. This will give your audience a sense of relevance.

If you are short of ideas and you don't know what to write about that will provide value to your users, don't panic. Google can help you. The bottom of Google SERP (Search engine result page) gives you ideas on what you can talk or write about.

Target your audience well. In creating content, don't just write for the sake of writing. Write your contents with a particular class of persons in mind. You cannot make everyone your audience or else you have no audience at all.

To target your audience effectively, you should ask yourself the following questions.
• Where does my audience hangout online?
• What is their (your audience) biggest gripe at work?
• What kind of article or content do they enjoy the most?
• What are my audience trying to achieve?
• What is preventing them from getting it?
• What is going to happen if they don't achieve it?

3. START WRITING YOUR CONTENT
The best way to get ahead is to get started. After researching your content and thinking of the best value you can offer, the next thing to do is to go ahead and write your content.

Your content speaks for you when you are not available, so make it amazing.

Great content is not just written, it is assembled.
When assembling your content, also spy on your competitors. They may have keywords you don't know or didn't think about.

You can also leaverage on Buzzsumo. A very great tool for content creation, search engine optimization and promoting your content. You can also make use of Buzzsumo to reverse engineer your competitors content.

Finally, in writing your content, please make it very detailed. Add links where possible and it should be well cited. Be careful of plagiarism. It may get all your blog post removed by Google.

4. GO LIVE WITH YOUR ARTICLE AND THEN START PROMOTING IT
The reason you wrote your blogpost is to get people to read it isn't it? Immediately you hit the publish button, start promoting your content.

You can promote your content via social media. If you have good number of visitors in your social media pages say, instagram, twitter or Facebook, you can then use these social media accounts to promote your content.

In a case where you don't have a good number of followers on your social media, you can opt in for promotions either using Google Ads or Facebook ads. You can also ask influencers to do it for you.

5. WRITE AGAIN AND AGAIN
Your audience will be pretty disappointed if you are not consistent. In anything we hope to achieve in life, consistency is key.

Your content brings a customer but your consistency makes the customer to keep coming.

This is where self discipline comes in. To stay consistent, you need not run out of ideas. This is why it is very important to schedule your post. You can use Google calendar to schedule your posts. It is very effective. This is called content strategy.

CONCLUSION
Assembling contents is not an easy task for any blog owner. However, you have no choice but to just do it otherwise, you won't grow.

Go about each day thinking of how to make your content better. Remember, it is not quantity that matters but quality. For the sake of SEO, depend on the both.
